2008 Pedal Prix Murray Bridge

2008 Pedal Prix
MS, Monday, 22 September 2008
In a cross promotion with Ballistic pedal prix cars Cycling SA attacked this year's Pedal Prix at Murray Prix, round-3 of the Australian series.

After a second and third at the six hour races at Victoria Park it was time to tackle the tough 24 hour race at Murray Bridge. You need a pedal car that can stand-up to 24 hours of racing non stop and a team of riders/drivers and volunteers who can stand up for 36 hours non stop with little or no sleep. The Murray Bridge circuit was just over 2.2 kilometres long, about to 240 pedal prix cars in four classes and yes all off at the same time in this endurance event. Again not just endurance for the cars but everyone involved.

In the top class CSA's Ballistic team was always going to be up against it with its main rivals being 'Blue-Shift' and 'Tru-Blu' a team crossing the boarder from Victoria, the other worry or fancied team being 'Bendigo'. The CSA team was headed by Darren O'Grady, Dale Parker, Kevin Harnett, Jack Bobridge, Michael Stallard, Matthew Benson, Ashley Wass, Travis Frisby and first reserve Scott McPhee. Thanks so much to these guys for making their valuable free time available to promote cycling and the CSA - SASI brands. These young men worked their butts off and we should be so grateful.

Secondly, the CSA members who volunteered their time to cook, manage and assist these rider over 36 hours hours thanks a heap. The Parker family and their family links for also giving away their time to make this work David Malone (Ballistic) thanks to you for allowing CSA to be part of it. Yes, it's a life changing experience the pedal prix and if you're looking for something to build team bonding this is the way to go. I heard one school teacher addressing his children on the Friday and he said "welcome to the longest weekend of your life" and yep he wasn't wrong. For the record CSA finshed fourth after 24 hours only about a minute off a podium finish. A magnificent branding exercise as our CSA logo went flying around that track every three minutes for 24 hours in fromt of 25,000 specatators and participants. I'm off to bed, goodnight!
